gastrointestinales.
This article reviews a series of studies investigating the relationship between autoimmune and gastrointestinal diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, Crohn's disease, psoriasis, ankylosing spondylitis, and ulcerative colitis, with anxiety and depression. A high prevalence of mental health disorders was found in patients with these diseases, which highlights the importance of addressing both physical and emotional aspects in their management. The results indicate that comprehensive and multidisciplinary care is essential to improve the quality of life of these patients. The implementation of psychological interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and psychoeducation, may be beneficial in reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression. In addition, the need for early detection and adequate treatment of mental health disorders in this group of patients is emphasized. The article also highlights the importance of collaboration between physicians, mental health specialists, and other health professionals in the comprehensive management of these diseases. Likewise, the need to improve the training of health care providers in the recognition and treatment of mental health problems in patients with autoimmune and gastrointestinal diseases is underscored.
