Resumen
Introducción: La pandemia de COVID-19, causada por el coronavirus SARS-CoV-
2, ha tenido un impacto significativo en la salud global desde su declaración por la
Organización Mundial de la Salud en marzo de 2020. Esta enfermedad altamente
infecciosa afecta principalmente los pulmones, la reducción de la capacidad
cardiorrespiratoria (CCR) de las personas, abarcando síntomas y afecciones que se
prolongan más allá de la fase aguda de la enfermedad.
Objetivos: Determinar la capacidad cardiorrespiratoria de las personas post
COVID-19 en la Universidad Simón Bolívar de Barranquilla.
Materiales y Métodos: Se realizó un estudio de tipo cuantitativo de diseño
observacional y de corte transversal con una población los usuarios de la unidad de
acondicionamiento físico de la universidad Simón Bolívar que padecieron covid 19
en los últimos cuatro años. La muestra fue de 19 participantes. La capacidad
cardiorrespiratoria se evaluó mediante el Cicloergometro marca Vyntus CPX, con el
software SentrySuite. Se excluyeron a personas que hayan pertenecido a
programas de rehabilitación cardiopulmonar y personas que hayan tenido una
condición de salud respiratoria en los últimos 6 meses.
Resultados: La población muestra estuvo compuesta por 19 participantes, de los
cuales el 63.2% son mujeres (n=12) y el 36.8% son hombres (n=7). La mayoría de
los participantes se encuentra en la franja de 18 a 27 años (68.4%). No se
encontraron estadísticas significativas entre hombres y mujeres en parámetros
como; frecuencia cardiaca pico (p valor= 0,09), frecuencia cardiaca máxima
predicha (p valor= 0,15), saturación de O2 en reposo (p valor= 0,24), saturación de
O2 durante el calentamiento (p valor= 0,63), saturación de O2 pico (p valor= 0,10),
saturación de O2 en la recuperación (p valor= 0,21), VO2 en reposo (p valor= 0,37),
VO2 en reposo (p valor= 0,77), VO2 durante la recuperación (p valor= 0,44). En
contraste con estadísticamente significativas entre hombres y mujeres en
parámetros como (capacidad vital forzada, volumen espiratorio forzado en un
segundo, frecuencia cardiaca en reposo, frecuencia cardiaca durante el
calentamiento, frecuencia cardiaca en la recuperación, consumo de oxígeno
predicho, consumo de oxígeno porcentaje).

This highly infectious disease primarily affects the lungs, reducing the cardiorespiratory capacity (CCR) of individuals, encompassing symptoms and conditions that extend beyond the acute phase of the disease. Objective: To determine the cardiorespiratory capacity of post-COVID-19 individuals at the Simón Bolívar University in Barranquilla. Materials and Methods: A quantitative, cross-sectional, observational study was carried out with a population of users of the physical conditioning unit of the Simón Bolívar University who suffered from covid 19 in the last four years. The sample consisted of 19 participants. Cardiorespiratory capacity was assessed using a Vyntus CPX Cycloergometer with SentrySuite software. People who had belonged to cardiopulmonary rehabilitation programmes and people who had a respiratory health condition in the last 6 months were excluded. Results: The sample population consisted of 19 participants, of which 63.2% were female (n=12) and 36.8% were male (n=7). The majority of the participants were between 18 and 27 years old (68.4%). No significant statistics were found between males and females in parameters such as; peak heart rate (p value= 0.09), predicted maximum heart rate (p value= 0.15), resting O2 saturation (p value= 0.24), O2 saturation during warm-up (p value= 0.63), peak O2 saturation (p value= 0.10), O2 saturation during recovery (p value= 0.21), VO2 at rest (p value= 0.37), VO2 at rest (p value= 0.77), VO2 during recovery (p value= 0.44). In contrast with statistically significant between men and women in parameters such as (forced vital capacity, forced expiratory volume in one second, heart rate at rest, heart rate during warmup, heart rate during recovery, predicted oxygen consumption, percentage oxygen consumption).
