The right to equality between women and men has been recognized by the United Nations as a universal legal principle and included in the constitutions of democratic countries. However, equality before the Law, which represents a great historical achievement for women and society as a whole, has been insufficient to achieve real equality. Society faces the great challenge of banishing certain stereotypes and promoting the conditions for equality between women and men to be real and effective. Women have been increasing their presence in different areas of society. The incorporation of women in education, and specifically in higher education, which in our country was closed to them for decades, is a good example of very important progress on the road to equality. Gender inequality is presented by analyzing the differences that exist between men and women in terms of their employment position compared to that of women, who always have or find a very notable difference. And this makes the treatment of women more discriminating and harsher in terms of tasks to be carried out, women are in charge of carrying out things that are of minimal importance. Compared to the responsibility given to men, which is quite an important responsibility. In the same way, the way in which the rights of people are enshrined in Colombian regulations in the framework of gender equality has been analyzed.
