This research addresses the social, economic, and cultural conditions faced by women who bear sole responsibility for their households. The study highlights the multiple roles these women simultaneously assume as mothers, providers, and caregivers within contexts marked by poverty, unemployment, and a lack of institutional support. Female heads of household face challenges such as job insecurity, gender discrimination, emotional overload, the absence of support networks, and social stigmatization. These conditions negatively impact their mental health and the quality of life of their children. The research emphasizes that many of these women only have access to informal and poorly paid jobs, limiting their ability to ensure the well-being of their families. Using a qualitative approach, the study aims to understand their lived experiences and coping strategies. The findings highlight the need for effective public policies that acknowledge and respond to the realities of this population, strengthening their access to basic services, decent job opportunities, and institutional and community support networks, with the goal of improving their quality of life and that of their families.
