Resumen
Siendo la familia el núcleo básico y principal de la sociedad, responsable de transmitir lo que se aprenden valores, normas y comportamientos que conforman la personalidad y el desarrollo humano, frente a un suceso inesperado como una hospitalización de uno de sus miembros, puede generar impactos tanto en lo emocional, como en la dinámica familiar y contexto socioeconómica, siendo esta una experiencia compleja de retos y ajustes en las familias. El objetivo fue describir los desafíos y adaptación de las familias con un hijo hospitalizado en una frente a los cambios emocionales, dinámica familiar y socioeconómicos en una IPS en Barranquilla.”, bajo la metodología de investigación Cualitativa, descriptiva fenomenológica, donde se contó con la participación de 13 familias, a quienes se les aplicó un entrevista semiestructura con tres preguntas que apuntaron a identificación de los desafíos y adaptaciones de las familias, dentro de los hallazgo de esta investigación se identificaron 3 categorías ( emocionales, dinámica familiar y socioeconómicos,) cada una de estas categorías arrojaron 5 Y 6 subcategorías siendo la de mayor influencia el estrés, delegación de rol a otros, gastos no esperados , llegando a la conclusión que los padres enfrentan una serie de desafíos emocionales como fueron la ansiedad, la angustia llevándolos al estrés mientras se preocupan por la salud de su hijo y luchan por adaptarse a la nueva situación. Además, la hospitalización afectó la dinámica familiar con la delegación de roles ya que la carga de cuidados recae sobre los progenitores y otros integrantes de la familia. y por último los gastos que se presentan desequilibran la armonía económica del hogar.

The objective was to Describe the challenges and adaptation of families with a child hospitalized in an ICU: emotional, structural and socioeconomic changes an IPS in Barranquilla", under the qualitative, descriptive phenomenological research methodology, with the participation of 13 families, to whom a semi-structured interview was applied with four questions that aimed to identify the situations experienced by families with a child hospitalized in an ICU in the face of emotional, structural and socioeconomic changes, within the findings of this research 4 categories were identified (negative vs. positive feelings, emotional changes, structural changes and socioeconomic changes), each of these categories yielded 5 and 6 subcategories, stress being the one with the greatest influence, delegating their role to others, expenses, which allowed reaching the conclusion that parents face a series of emotional changes while worrying about the health of their child and struggling to adapt to the new situation.
