dc.description.abstract | La población infantil está expuesta a múltiples gérmenes bacterianos, uno de estos es el Helicobacter pylori. Esta bacteria Gram negativa microaerofílica es altamente responsable de la presencia de gastritis primaria, duodenitis, úlceras gástricas y hemorragia digestiva en niños. El presente estudio tiene como objetivo describir la prevalencia de infección por Helicobacter pylori en población pediátrica, en una institución especializada de la ciudad de Cartagena, periodo enero de 2021 – junio de 2023. Posee un diseño metodológico de tipo descriptivo, retrospectivo, la muestra fue a conveniencia en 130 pacientes entre los 0 a 17 años de edad a los que se les realizó endoscopia digestiva por diferentes indicaciones en una institución especializada (DIGESTSALUD) de la ciudad de Cartagena (Colombia). Entre los principales resultados de la investigación se encontró que la prevalencia de la infección por Helicobacter pylori es del 36.9%, la edad media de los infectados fue de 11.6 ± 4.8 años sin diferencias entre el sexo. Los factores de riesgo identificados en esta serie fueron el área de residencia rural, el antecedente familiar de infección por H. pylori y el no acceso a agua potable. | spa |
dc.description.abstract | The child population is exposed to multiple bacterial germs, one of these is Helicobacter pylori. This microaerophilic Gram-negative bacterium is highly responsible for the presence of primary gastritis, duodenitis, gastric ulcers and digestive bleeding in children. The objective of this study is to describe the prevalence of Helicobacter pylori infection in the pediatric population, in a specialized institution in the city of Cartagena, period January 2021 - June 2023. It has a descriptive, retrospective methodological design, the sample was at convenience in 130 patients between 0 and 17 years of age who underwent digestive endoscopy for different indications in a specialized institution (DIGESTSALUD) in the city of Cartagena (Colombia). Among the main results of the research, it was found that the prevalence of Helicobacter pylori infection is 36.9%, the average age of those infected was 11.6 ± 4.8 years with no differences between sex. The risk factors identified in this series were rural residence area, family history of H. pylori infection, and lack of access to drinking water. | eng |
