En el presente trabajo investigativo, se analiza la pertinencia de la Maestría en Educación de la Universidad Simón Bolívar en la transformación de la calidad educativa en el Distrito de Barranquilla (Atlántico), en los años 2013-2015. Se considera que la
Universidad, como institución académica, es responsable de la formación de los profesionales, de manera que logre funcionar en interrelación dialéctica con la sociedad
y satisfaga las necesidades del tipo de profesional a formar, con un enfoque hacia la sociedad y desde la sociedad, con criterios de excelencia, calidad y pertinencia. Este último es el principal indicador a valorar, pues en la medida que se satisfagan las
necesidades de la sociedad, se garantiza la calidad y excelencia de las universidades, de
sus procesos y de sus resultados. La pertinencia de la Educación Superior es por definición adecuación a los problemas que le atañen; es decir, a las necesidades de la
sociedad en las que están insertas, según una adecuada interpretación de los problemas
y, al mismo tiempo, según una clara visión de lo que debe ser su accionar. La investigación de la pertinencia considera en detalle dos dimensiones: a) La pertinencia
académica, que se refiere a la concordancia que existe entre las responsabilidades que la sociedad asigna a la educación y las que cada programa en particular asume en su misión, visión, principios curriculares, objetivos, metas, estrategias pedagógicas,
recursos de apoyo didáctico, logros y resultados; b) La pertinencia social es consecuencia de las interacciones de los programas con el entorno, lo cual resulta por las
oportunidades de cobertura, matrícula, retención, permanencia de estudiantes, desempeño socio-laboral de egresados, proyección comunitaria e impactos en el
contexto.
In this research work, the relevance of the Masters in Education at the University Simon Bolivar in transforming the quality of education in the District of Barranquilla (Atlántico), in the years 2013 to 2015 is analyzed. It is considered that the University as an academic institution is responsible for the training of professionals, so that achieves function dialectical relationship with society and meet the needs of the type of professional training, with a focus on society and from the society with criteria of excellence, quality and relevance. The latter is the main indicator to assess, because to the extent that the needs of society are met, the quality and excellence of universities, their processes and their results are guaranteed. The relevance of higher education is by definition adapt to the problems that concern them; ie the needs of the society in which they are embedded, as a proper understanding of the problems and at the same time as a clear vision of what should be their actions. The investigation of the relevance considered in detail two dimensions: a) The academic relevance, which refers to the agreement between the responsibilities that society assigns to education and that each particular program embraces its mission, vision, principies curriculum, objectives, goals, teaching strategies, teaching support resources, achievements and results; b ) The social relevance is the result of interactions with the environment programs , which is why hedging opportunities , enrollment, retention, retention of students, socio-job performance of graduates, community outreach and impact in the context.
