Resumen
El presente trabajo de investigación consiste en identificar el gasto energético en adultos
recidentes en la ciudad de Barranquilla, además, caracterizar a la población sugún sus
variables sociodemográficas e identificar el consumo energético según estas variables,
donde se llevó a cabo un estudio de corte transversal con un enfoque investigativo de tipo
cuantitativo donde se empleó un formulario de manera virtual, que fue enviado a los
correos y WhatsApp de los 135 adultos participantes de entre 18 a 59 años de edad
recidentes en la ciudad de Barranquilla. Para evaluar el gasto energético se usó el
Cuestionario Internacional de actividad física IPAQ formato corto. Dando como resultado
que el nivel educativo de los participantes en un 66,7% es bajo, 33,3% es alto. El 74,8%
tiene casa propia mientras que 25,2% no. También se encontró que en hombres el
consumo energético tiene una desviación estándar de 3374,84 en met vigorosa a
diferencia de las mujeres que la desviación de met vigorosa es de 1189, 12.
Según la edad las personas entre 18 y 28 años tiene una desviación estándar de 2601,06
en met vigorosa, mientras que los de 29 a 59 años muestran una desviación de met
vigorosa de 1357,04. En conclusión la evidencia que presentamos muestran niveles
elevados de bajo o moderado nivel de consumo energético en la población adulta en
tiempo de pandemia por COVID-19, especialmente en hombres entre las edades de 18 a
28 años.
The present research work consists of identifying energy expenditure in adults residing in the city of Barranquilla, in addition, characterizing the population by its sociodemographic variables and identifying energy consumption according to these variables, where a crosssectional study was carried out with a quantitative research approach where a virtual form was used, which was sent to the emails and WhatsApp of the 135 participating adults between 18 and 59 years old residing in the city of Barranquilla. To assess energy expenditure, the short-form IPAQ International Physical Activity Questionnaire is used. Giving as a result that the educational level of the participants in 66.7% is low, 33.3% is high. 74.8% have their own house and 25.2% do not. It was also found that in men the energy consumption has a standard deviation of 3374.84 in vigorous met, unlike in women that the deviation of vigorous met is of 1189.12. According to age, people between 18 and 28 years old have a standard deviation of 2601.06 in vigorous met, while those between 29 and 59 years old show a standard deviation of vigorous met of 1,357.04. In conclusion, the evidence we present shows high levels of low or moderate energy consumption in the adult population in times of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in men between the ages of 18 to 28 years.
