Resumen
El ser humano a lo largo de la historia ha interactuado con la naturaleza en búsqueda de su propio bienestar. Las plantas han sido una parte vital para el alcance de este, pues se les ha dado uso para la cura de enfermedades. Si bien el origen de la fitoterapia (uso medicinal de las plantas) constituye en la actualidad un desafío en la medicina y se ofrece como una alternativa. Por tanto, en esta investigación fue realizada una revisión bibliográfica de la diversidad de plantas en Colombia con la finalidad de conocer, estudiar la composición química de las plantas y sus principios activos en la actividad biológica antimicrobiana.
Throughout history, human beings have interacted with nature in search of their own well-being. Plants have been a vital part of its scope, as they have been used to cure diseases. Although the origin of phytotherapy (medicinal use of plants) is currently a challenge in medicine and is offered as an alternative. Therefore, in this research, a bibliographic review of the diversity of plants in Colombia was carried out in order to know and study the chemical composition of plants and their active principles in antimicrobial biological activity
