Objective: Construct and validate an evaluation scale of family functioning in adolescents (EFFA). Method: The sample was 657 adolescents between 14 and 18 years old with an age mean of 16.55 ± 1.4; 26-item Likert-type scale was applied to evaluate five dimensions of family functioning. Confirmatory factor analysis was performed using the Lisrel 8.0 statistical program. Results: The total internal consistency of the instrument was 0.849, and the scales showed a Cronbach’s alpha coefficient between 0.698 and 0.873. The items’ correlations with the dimensions fluctuated between 0.192 ** and 0.859 **. Significant high correlations were found between the subscales (0.400 ** to 0.960 **). Significant correlations with other measures related to the proposed dimensions were detected. Conclusion: The EFFA showed adequate indicators of validity and reliability for the evaluation of family functioning in Colombian adolescents.
