The pandemic caused by the COVID-19 disease has exposed mental health problems due to the mixture of a public health crisis, which in turn interferes with confinement and economic difficulties, the latter being the aggravating factor for for problems such as depression, anxiety and other comorbidities. The different circumstances that are immersed in all the measures taken as a result of the pandemic, have triggered situations capable of provoking intense emotions, overwhelming mental patients and therefore generating a greater demand for mental health services. To a large extent, these psychiatric disorders have an association with stress that leads to an increase in incidence and relapse rates, which is why it is important to validate the emotional experience of these patients caused by confinement to successfully manage the reactions of stress caused by the COVID-19 outbreak. Objectives: a retrospective, cross-sectional, analytical study with a quantitative measure character with an exploratory depth, to establish the level of perceived stress on the part of patients with an outpatient non-degenerative mental illness who are controlled in a IPS in Barranquilla affected by the pandemic during the year 2020.eng
