Resumen
El intento suicida es aquel acto de autoagresión con amenaza de muerte, en donde la intención no es quitarse la vida. En una muestra de 50 jóvenes, seleccionados de la Universidad Simón Bolívar ( 1er Semestre psicología) de forma no aleatoria intencional se determinaron los factores de riesgo para intento suicida, utilizando como instrumento un cuestionario: al efecto Guibert (2001), teniendo en cuenta variables tales como factores psicosociales entre los que se encuentran desesperanza, culpa, impulsividad, ausencia de apoyo familiar y / o social. A partir de un diseño descriptivo basado en un paradigma empírico analítico, Los resultados de esta investigación mostraron que el factor de riesgo con mayor incidencia en los estudiantes, es la ausencia de apoyo social y familiar que viven los adolescentes siendo este el mayor factor desencadenante para intento de suicidio en la población. De igual modo este estudio nos revela información acerca de la importancia de la influencia familiar en los adolescentes de la ciudad de Barranquilla- Atlántico - Colombia, donde esta, es un ente que representa un factor riesgo para aquellos jóvenes con familias disfuncionales, conflictivas y sin apoyo.
