The disorder is diagnosed when a person weighs at least 15 percent less than normal weight of his body. The extreme weight loss in people with anorexia nervosa may lead to dangerous problems of health and even death. The term anorexia literally means "loss of appetite;" however, this definition is misleading because people with anorexia nervosa often have hunger but, anyway, reject the food. People with anorexia nervosa have intense fears to fatten and be seen themselves fat even when they are very thin. These individuals may try to correct this perceived "imperfection" to the ingerimiento meal strictly and making excessive exercise with the purpose of losing weight.
