Oficialmente conocido como "Acuerdo Regional sobre Acceso a la Información, la Participación Pública y el Acceso a la Justicia en Asuntos Ambientales en América Latina y el Caribe", este tratado regional busca: El Acuerdo de Escazú tiene como objetivo proteger el medio ambiente y los derechos humanos, garantizar el acceso a la información ambiental, promover la participación pública en la toma de decisiones y garantizar la justicia ambiental en
América Latina y el Caribe. Este documento, obtenido en Costa Rica en 2018, representa un momento importante en la búsqueda de la sostenibilidad ambiental y la buena participación pública. La implementación del acuerdo en Colombia enfrenta desafíos como armonizar el acuerdo con el sistema legal nacional y garantizar que sus términos se implementen. También es importante que la sociedad civil apoye la participación de los ciudadanos en la protección del medio ambiente y que las organizaciones internacionales proporcionen apoyo técnico y financiero para las acciones previstas en el acuerdo
Officially known as the "Regional Agreement on Access to Information, Public Participation and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters in Latin America and the Caribbean", this regional treaty seeks to: The Escazú Agreement aims to protect the environment and human rights, guarantee access to environmental information, promote public participation in decision-making and guarantee environmental justice in Latin America and the Caribbean. This document, obtained in Costa Rica in 2018, represents an important moment in the search for environmental sustainability and good public participation. The implementation of the agreement in Colombia faces challenges such as harmonizing the agreement with the national legal system and ensuring that its terms are implemented. Implementation of the agreement depends on government actions that must be measured to protect access to information, public participation and environmental justice. It is also important that civil society supports the participation of citizens in environmental protection and that international organizations provide technical and financial support for the actions provided for in the agreement
