Resumen
El impulso del proyecto Barranquilla de cara al río, presentado al mundo en el 2014, dejó de lado el abandono al que por muchos años estuvo sometido el río en esta región del Caribe colombiano, motivando a reflexionar acerca del futuro de la capital del Departamento del Atlántico y el impacto que el proyecto del Gran Malecón, junto al desarrollo del río tendrán sobre la tierra barranquillera, su historia y sus habitantes, al darle la cara al río. Para ello se ha desarrollado un marco teórico conceptual en torno a acerca antecedentes históricos de Barranquilla y el río, impacto del reencuentro de Barranquilla con el río y, Barranquilla referente de crecimiento, proyección y transformación de ciudad. Concluyendo que le ha dado a Barranquilla y a los barranquilleros, la oportunidad de ser, nuevamente, esa pujante, emprendedora y dinámica ciudad que fue en el pasado. Así como rescatar el interés por el río y el transporte fluvial. Generando un impacto alto, muy positivo y de gran envergadura para la región, impacto este que no se ha hecho esperar, en materia de reconocimiento a nivel nacional e internacional, en la entrada de inversionistas, el fomento de la actividad turística.
Además de contribuir a que Barranquilla sea vista como referente de crecimiento, proyección y transformación de ciudad.
The momentum of the Barranquilla project facing the river, presented to the world in 2014, left aside the abandonment to which the river was subjected for many years in this region of the Colombian Caribbean, has motivated the realization of this reflective article about the future of the capital of the Department of the Atlantic and the impact that the Great Malcom project, along with the development of the river, will have on the Barranquilla land, its history and its inhabitants, as it faces the river. To this end, a theoretical conceptual framework has been developed around the historical background of Barranquilla and the river, the impact of the re-encounter of Barranquilla with the river, and Barranquilla, a benchmark for growth, projection and transformation of the city. Concluding that it has given Barranquilla and Barranquilla, the opportunity to be, again, that thriving, enterprising and dynamic city that was in the past. As well as to rescue the interest for the river and the fluvial transport. Generating a high impact, very positive and of great scope for the region, this impact has not been long in terms of recognition at national and international level, in the entry of investors, the promotion of tourism. Besides contributing to Barranquilla being seen as a benchmark for growth, projection and transformation of the city.
