La investigación busca identificar cómo las competencias emocionales influyen en la estabilidad mental y el desempeño laboral de estos profesionales, con el propósito de proponer estrategias que favorezcan su bienestar integral. El problema central radica en que los trabajadores de la salud enfrentan largas jornadas, exigencias continuas y alta carga emocional ya que por estos factores se incrementan los niveles de ansiedad y agotamiento, el estudio plantea como objetivo general analizar la relación entre la inteligencia emocional y la salud mental de los profesionales del sector salud en Barranquilla, considerando como variables principales la autoconciencia, autorregulación, motivación, empatía y habilidades sociales.This study examines the relationship between emotional intelligence and mental health among healthcare professionals in the city of Barranquilla, prompted by growing concern for the psychological well-being of medical personnel, a group consistently exposed to stress, anxiety, exhaustion, and workplace pressure. The research seeks to identify how emotional competencies influence mental stability and professional performance, with the aim of proposing strategies that support their overall well-being. The core issue lies in the fact that healthcare workers face long shifts, continuous demands, and a high emotional burden, which increase levels of anxiety and burnout. For this reason, maintaining stable emotional intelligence is essential, as it is considered a crucial element for coping with these conditions. Emotional intelligence enables the recognition, understanding, and regulation of emotions in healthcare professionals, fostering adaptation and resilience in the face of stress and symptoms caused by significant impacts on mental health.
