En actualidad gracias al estudio de la epigenètica se han identificado muchos biomarcadores para el diagnóstico tratamiento y seguimiento del LES, entre ellos algunos específicos para el diagnóstico y manejo de afección órgano especifica de esta patología tales como el receptor transmembrana neuropilina-1 (NRP-1) que ayuda al diagnóstico y seguimiento en nefritis lùpica, IFN-I en LES grave, IL-6 como biomarcador específico para LES con afectación pulmonar y SNC entre otros.Systemic lupus erythematosus is a chronic, autoimmune disease where genetic, epigenet-ic, environmental, hormonal factors have been shown to play an important role in its patho-physiology, affecting any organ; by the attack of the immune system to its own cells thus causing inflammation by the formation of deposits of antigen-antibody complexes in the cells of any organ, the most frequent clinical manifestations are the articular, cutaneous, cardiac among the complications.
