This research project focused on analyzing the interaction between natural flavonoids with recognized antioxidant and anticancer properties and the heat shock protein HSP90, a key molecular chaperone in the progression and cell survival of various types of cancer. The relevance of the study lies in the search for new, safer, and more effective therapeutic strategies based on natural compounds, given the high mortality rate and resistance to conventional treatment that characterize cancer. The central problem addressed the need to understand in greater depth the molecular mechanism of HSP90 inhibition by natural compounds. To this end, molecular analysis and computational modeling techniques were used to identify the most relevant binding sites and evaluate the affinity and stability of the molecular interaction. The introduction was based on the crucial role of HSP90 in stabilizing proteins associated with tumor growth and on the evidence supporting quercetin as a natural inhibitor of this protein, highlighting its potential to promote selective apoptosis in cancer cells without affecting normal cells. The study contributed to modern pharmacology by exploring natural compounds as alternatives to synthetic inhibitors, which often present toxicity and adverse side effects.
