Ítem An optimization approach for inventory costs in probabilistic inventory models: A case study(Universidad de Tarapacá, 2020) Pulido-Rojano, Alexander; Andrea, Andrea; Padilla-Polanco, Miguel; Sánchez-Jiménez, Milton; De la-Rosa, LadianysInventories represent stocks of goods necessary for operations of sales or manufacturing in a company. These allow to the companies meet their sales levels, while representing an opportunity to the cost control and the decision-making. This paper presents an optimization approach to minimize the inventory costs in probabilistic inventory models of independent demand. The approach has been validated for set the policy optimal of inventories with probabilistic demand within a company that markets disposable products. The established policy aims to minimize the inventory costs by using the standard deviation of the historical data, the mean deviation of forecast errors and the mean deviation of the historical data. For the determination of the economic order quantities, three types of products were selected, taking historical sales data. Likewise, different forecasting methods were used, selecting the one that minimizes the mean squared error for the forecasted demand. The proposed methodology is practical and easy to use in companies where inventories have probabilistic and independent demand. Also, the proposed approach allowed optimize the costs related to holding costs, ordering costs and safety stock costs.Ítem Análisis de integración de la cadena de suministros en la industria textil en Ecuador. Carlos; Pulido-Rojano, Alexander; Giner-Bosch, VicentA multihead weighing process is a packaging technology that can be of strategic importance to a company, as it can be a key to competitive advantage in the modern food industry. The improvement in the process quality and sensory quality of food packaged in a multihead weighing process investigated in this paper is relevant to industrial engineering. A bi-objective ad hoc algorithm based on explicit enumeration for the packaging processes in multihead weighers with an unequal supply of the product to the weighing hoppers is developed. The algorithm uses an a priori strategy to generate Pareto-optimal solutions and select a subset of hoppers from the set of available ones in each packing operation. The relative importance of both aforementioned objectives is dynamically managed and adjusted. An Integral, Risk and Energy Approach in Management Systems. Analysis of ISO 50001: 2018(LACCEI Latin American and Caribbean Consortium of Engineering Institutions, 2019) Poveda-Orjuela, P. Pablo; García-Díaz, J. Carlos; Pulido-Rojano, Alexander; Cañón-Zabala, GermánBusiness progress and human development are linked to the effective management and saving of energy resources. The ISO 50000 family of standards provides practices for the utilization, savings, efficiency and continuous improvement in energy performance, while the ISO 50001 establishes the requirements for an energy management system (EnMS). This document presents i) the main topics of the ISO 50001:2018 and other areas not included in its review; ii) the need for organizations to have a comprehensive model with a risk focus for the rational implementation of management systems that fulfil the practices of energy efficiency, in conjunction with quality, safety, health at work and environmental management, among others; iii) the proposed focus for the conceptual model and the implementation route of a comprehensive management system, "QHSE3+" (Q = quality management (ISO 9001: 2015), HS = health and safety at work (ISO 45001: 2018), E = environmental management (ISO 14001: 2015), E2 = energy efficiency (ISO 50001: 2011) and + = other components of risk), which contributes to the sustainable success of organizations by reducing the vulnerabilities and risks associated with the categories in the acronym QHSE3+..Ítem Monitoring and control of the multihead weighing process through a modified control chart1(Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Sede Medellín), 2016-12-15) García-Díaz, J.Carlos; Pulido-Rojano, AlexanderModified control charts are used to monitor and control manufacturing processes which are considered to be six-sigma processes. The use of these charts is based on the idea that the cost of identifying and correcting special causes is much higher than the cost of off-target products. Therefore, the process mean is essentially acceptable as long as it is anywhere within the specification limits. These concepts are applied to the packaging process in multihead weighers. The weight of the packed product, seen as the quality characteristic to be monitored, must be as close to a specified target weight as possible and comply with applicable regulations. The packaging process was previously optimized and improved using a packaging strategy, which was evaluated through a proposed packing algorithm. In this way, a set of numerical experiments were conducted to examine the solutions generated, which were subsequently monitored.Ítem Parameterization, analysis, and risk management in a comprehensive management system with emphasis on energy and performance (ISO 50001: 2018)(MDPI, 2020) Poveda-Orjuela, P. Pablo; García-Díaz, J. Carlos; Pulido-Rojano, Alexander; Cañón-Zabala, GermánThe future of business development relies on the effective management of risks, opportunities, and energy and water resources. Here, we evaluate the application of best practices to identify, analyze, address, monitor, and control risks and opportunities (R/O) according to ISO 31000 and 50000. Furthermore, we shed light on tools, templates, ISO guides, and international documents that contribute to classifying, identifying, formulating control, and managing R/O parameterization in a comprehensive management system model, namely CMS QHSE3+, which consists of quality (Q), health and safety (HS), environmental management (E), energy efficiency (E2), and other risk components (+) that include comprehensive biosecurity and biosafety. By focusing on the deployment of R/O-based thinking (ROBT) at strategic and operational levels, we show vulnerability reduction in CMS QHSE3+ by managing energy, efficiency, and sustainability.Ítem Performance analysis and optimisation of new strategies for the setup of a multihead weighing process(Inderscience Enterprises, 2020) García-Díaz, J. Carlos; Pulido-Rojano, AlexanderThis paper highlights the benefits of multihead weighing, a packaging process based on the sum of weights of several individual hoppers wherein total weight of the packed product must be close to a specified target weight while complying with applicable regulations. The paper details into performance analysis and optimisation of new strategies for setting-up the process to achieve an optimal configuration of the machine. Three strategies, designed to optimise the packaging process, are analysed and compared in terms of supplying products to the hoppers. A factorial design of the experimental model is exploited to predict the measures of performance as a function of a variety of control settings. Results of the numerical experiments are used to analyse the sources of variability and to identify the optimum operating conditions for the multihead weigher. Therefore, the findings of this paper will benefit both manufacturer and users of the multihead weigher machine.
