An integrated approach of multiple correspondences analysis (MCA) and fuzzy AHP method for occupational health and safety performance evaluation in the land cargo transportation
(Springer, 2019-08)
Land cargo transportation is one of the components of the logistics
chain with high impact on economic and social development worldwide.
However, problems such as top logistics costs, deficiencies in transportation
infrastructure and the failure to adopt good operating practices in aspects such as
quality, environment, and occupational safety and health affect the ability of
companies to comply with the agreements, requirements, and regulations of the
clients and other interested parties. One of the most relevant problems for the
sector ...
Chronic joint pain 3 years after chikungunya virus infection largely characterized by relapsing-remitting symptoms
(The Journal of Rheumatology Publishing, 2019)
Objective. To determine the frequency of chronic joint pain and stiffness 3 years after infection
with chikungunya virus in a Latin American cohort.
Methods. A cross-sectional follow-up of 120 patients from an initial cohort of 500 patients who
reported joint pain 2 years after infection from the Atlántico Department, Colombia. Patients were
clinically diagnosed as having chikungunya virus during the 2014–2015 epidemic, and baseline
and follow-up symptoms at 40 months were evaluated in serologically confirmed cases.
Results. Of the initial ...
Bacillus strain selection with plant growth-promoting mechanisms as potential elicitors of systemic resistance to gray mold in pepper plants
(Elsevier, 2020)
Certain soil bacteria produce beneficial effects on the growth and health of plants; hence, their use is
steadily increasing. Five strains of Bacillus with plant growth-promoting potential were selected in this
study, which produced indole-3-acetic acid levels below 50 mg.mL 1. On the other hand, while only
strains M8 and M15 dissolved phosphorus, the latter was the only strain that did not produce siderophores.
Only strains M8 and M16 significantly inhibited the in vitro growth of Botrytis cinerea and
Fusarium solani phytopathogens, whose ...
Evaluation of hospital disaster preparedness by a multi-criteria decision making approach: The case of Turkish hospitals
(Elsevier, 2020)
Considering the unexpected emergence of natural and man-made disasters over the world and Turkey, the
importance of preparedness of hospitals, which are the first reference points for people to get healthcare services,
becomes clear. Determining the level of disaster preparedness of hospitals is an important and necessary issue. This is because identifying hospitals with low level of preparedness is crucial for disaster preparedness planning. In this study, a hybrid fuzzy decision making model was proposed to evaluate the disaster preparedness ...
Dialysis prescription in acute kidney injury: when and how much?
(Springer, 2020)
Acute kidney injury (AKI) constitutes a serious public health problem because of its very high cost and mortality rate, with an increasing incidence, phenomenon which is explained by the increasingly number of older patients suffering from several comorbidities admitted in the intensive care units. Despite the new AKI definition and classification, the use of novel AKI biomarkers and modern technologies, as an attempt to achieve an early AKI detection and treatment, and consequently to
better clinical outcomes, AKI mortality particularly in ICU ...
Nucleocapsid protein precursors NCp9 and NCp15 suppress ATP-mediated rescue of AZT-terminated primers by HIV-1 reverse transcriptase
(American Society for Microbiology, 2020)
In HIV-1, development of resistance to AZT (3′-azido-3′-deoxythymidine) is mediated by the acquisition of thymidine analogue resistance mutations (TAMs) (i.e. M41L, D67N, K70R, L210W, T215F/Y and K219E/Q) in the viral reverse transcriptase (RT). Clinically relevant combinations of TAMs such as M41L/T215Y or D67N/K70R/T215F/K219Q enhance the ATP-mediated excision of AZT monophosphate (AZTMP) from the 3′ end of the primer, allowing DNA synthesis to continue. Additionally, during HIV-1 maturation, the Gag polyprotein is cleaved to release a mature ...
